Capt. Eric Brown Interview in London
Just returned from my trip to London and my interview with Capt. Eric Brown. Not only did I get to interview the world’s greatest test pilot, but upon my arrival he invited me to attend the Guild of Aviation Artists awards ceremony! So off we went him leading the way. We jumped into a cab and headed to the Mall. It was a great show with over 400 amazing paintings from artists across England. I also got a chance to catch up with Mick Oakey and Nick Stroud of Aeroplane Month fame. They have embarked on a new magazine project called The Aviation Historian. This new quarterly magazine is dedicated to the many untold stories of aviation history. You can check it out at theavationhistorian.com.
After the presentations Eric and I headed back to the RAF Club for our interview session. I wanted to get from Eric his thoughts on the many different combat aircraft cockpits he’s flown in. Hopefully Eric’s insights will be part of a new Ebook I’m working on titled Fighting Cockpits – World War I to the Present.
It was a revealing three hours and I have to say for someone who is 94 years of age he was on top of his game. Later we had dinner in the pub downstairs which was pretty cool. I’ve had three big thrills in my aviation writing career – the first was a ride in Mike Potter’s P-51 Mustang, the second was meeting Capt. Eric Brown and the third was getting the chance to speak with him in the RAF Club!
